2022 was a great year for white wine from the Côte Chalonnaise, and you will see quite a few from Rully and Montagny in our selection this year. Whites from Rully often combine a racy acidity with a chewy texture, making them good food wines when young and giving them potential for ageing.
Claudie Jobard’s father (Roger) was one of the nurserymen of Côte Chalonnaise, planting many high-quality vineyards, some of which are now Claudie’s. Her mother (Laurence) was the head winemaker at Joseph Drouhin for many years. So, a great winemaking lineage.
This wine surprised us. It is a very modern and elegant take on Rully – immediately very expressive, with aromas of ripe citrus and peach and a lovely savoury depth on the palate, reminiscent of baking spice and toast.
